The Sale Rangers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Kieren Donoghue singled, stole second and was driven in by Will Hector.
In the 4th The Sale Rangers pushed across another run on an RBI single by Justin Johnston, scoring Chris Heppelston to give them a 2-0 lead. William Hector was brilliant from the mound for Sale, striking out 5 for the game and showing great control.
The Redsox were able to convert in the 5th evening up the scores courtesy of some great touches from Ben Laux. Laux did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Traralgon Redsox , reaching base four times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.
Redsox Brad Adams handled the Sale Rangers 's lineup when it counted, racking up eight strikeouts. Brad Adams allowed only two earned runs, five hits and gave up two walks over seven innings as the Redsox put the runs on the board after taking advantage of some sloppy fielding late in the game.
Adams backed it up with the bat as he brought home the winning run to give the Traralgon Redsox the lead in the sixth inning, as the Traralgon Redsox hung on to beat the Sale Rangers 8-3.
Sale scored one in the 8th as Traralgon answered with 2 of their own and secured the game
Traralgon were behind for most of the game before a late charge gave them the lead, which they didn’t give up.
An impressive two-way performance from Brad Pratt led the Traralgon Redsox to a 9-5 win Sunday over Morwell Cougars (B), as Brad came up huge at the dish and on the rubber.
Brad went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Traralgon Redsox . He singled in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.
Morwell Cougars couldn't get anything going as long as Brad was on the hill. Brad held Morwell Cougars hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
The Traralgon Redsox starter Mick Adams struggled, allowing five in five innings, but the bullpen gave up no runs and the offense banged out 13 to pick up the slack and secure the win for the Traralgon Redsox .
Morwell Cougars was ahead early but it ultimately surrendered the lead for good. Morwell Cougars was up until the fifth inning, but the Traralgon Redsox had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on a two-run single by Duncan McAlister.
In the top of the first, Morwell Cougars grabbed the early lead, 5-0. Morwell Cougars 's threat began with a single by Michael Aubrey. A stolen base then moved Michael from first to second. Christopher Heppleston singled, plating Michael. Morwell Cougars pushed more runs across when Mayberry scored on a groundout by Anthony Mayberry, Heppleston scored on an error, and Mackenzie and Standing scored on a two-run single by Kenny Dron.
The Traralgon Redsox pushed across one run in both the third inning and the sixth. In the third, the Traralgon Redsox scored on an error, scoring Brad.
The Traralgon Redsox never trailed after scoring seven runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Ji Eccles, an error, and three singles.
C Grade
Traralgon Redsox V Morwell Cougars 8– 8 all draw. John Moulden (Traralgon) – HR. Great back and forth contest that went to the wire. Two very evenly matched teams that will need to take it to the next level the next time they meet.
Under 16’s
Sale handed Traralgon their first loss for the season as the Rangers jumped the Redsox early. The Redsox pitchers struggled to throw strikes allowing Ranger base runners on. Great defense on the Rangers part made sure that the lead was secure and they came away with the points.
Traralgon had a good 14-7 win in the U13s. The Redsox busted out of the blocks and scored freely before the Cougars got on a roll and started to make a game of it. Time ran out and the Redsox were awarded the win.
