Jason Smith leads the Moe Newborough Dodgers (A) to 5-0 victory thanks to 4 strikeouts

Jason Smith tossed seven scoreless innings to lift the Moe Newborough Dodgers to a 5-0 win over the Traralgon Redsox (A) at Burrage Reserve.

 

The Moe Newborough Dodgers were led by Jason's hitting. Jason went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

 

The lead stayed with the Moe Newborough Dodgers after the third, when they scored two runs on an RBI single by Luke Halket.

The Moe Newborough Dodgers added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. A clutch hit into a fielder's choice scored Nathan Simpson to open the scoring in the frame

The Moe Newborough Dodgers (B) survive the Traralgon Redsox (B) 7-6 thanks to Ji Eccles's late-game heroics

Ji Eccles brought home the winning run to give the Moe Newborough Dodgers the lead in the seventh inning, as the Moe Newborough Dodgers hung on to beat the Traralgon Redsox 7-6 on Sunday.

Brett Sharp singled to get on base in the seventh. He then went from second to third on a single by Aaron Wellbourne.

 

Mat Luke was solid at the plate for the Moe Newborough Dodgers . Mat went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.

 

The Redsox were emphatic winners over the Dodgers 

 

 

Brian Dillon racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Traralgon Redsox . He singled in the second and fourth innings.

 

In the top of the second, the Traralgon Redsox grabbed the early lead, 3-0. A single by Brian, bringing home Josh Graham started the inning off. The Traralgon Redsox added more runs when Brooker scored on a bases loaded walk by Luke Halket and Wellbourne scored on a wild pitch.

The Moe Newborough Dodgers matched their three-run fourth inning with three more in the fifth. In the fourth, the Moe Newborough Dodgers scored on an RBI double by Roy Simpson, scoring Mat.

 

C Grade   The Traralgon Redsox def the Moe Newborough Dodgers 24-7. This high scoring affair came at a cost to the Dodgers as Mark Evans smashed his first ever Home Run for the Redsox and the oldest player in the league Peter Hornstra was not to be outdone puting one out of the park also.     

 

The Traralgon Redsox (U16) hang on against the Moe Newborough Dodgers (U16) , 7-5

The Moe Newborough Dodgers weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Traralgon Redsox , and the Moe Newborough Dodgers lost 7-5 to the Traralgon Redsox after falling behind by seven runs in the fourth inning.

The Moe Newborough Dodgers scored five runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Brayden Crockford, a sacrifice fly by Reagan Crockford, and an RBI single by Zac Rendell. Despite their efforts, the Moe Newborough Dodgers couldn't get over the hump.

 

Kade Bamford led the Traralgon Redsox 's offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He tripled in the second inning.

 

 

Blake Townsend had an impressive outing against the Moe Newborough Dodgers 's lineup. Blake held the Moe Newborough Dodgers hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight.

 

 

Ty Rendell got on base two times in the game for the Moe Newborough Dodgers .

 

The Traralgon Redsox never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring one run on a groundout by Sam Keast.

The Traralgon Redsox piled on two more runs in the top of the second. The inning looked promising, as Kade tripled, scoring Dylan Welbourne to kick things off.
